Registration of your child in Denmark

Danish parents living in Malaysia are not required straightaway to register the birth of their newborn child with the Danish authorities, unless you are planning the baptism in Denmark. The child will not acquire a Danish civil registry number (CPR-nummer). However, the child will be given a civil registry number in the event of relocating to Denmark.

If your newborn child is a Danish national you can apply for a Danish passport at the Embassy - followed by the application for a visa from the Malaysian Immigration Authorities to legalize the stay in Malaysia.

Whether your child has also acquired Malaysian Nationality by birth you may clarify with the Malaysian authorities.
