The Embassy of Denmark in Jakarta is looking for a high-qualified Commercial Advisor who can play a crucial role in strengthening trade and investments between Denmark and Indonesia.

The Embassy’s Trade Team provides consultancy services against payment to Danish companies that want to get a footing in the Indonesian market or grow their existing business in Indonesia. Our customers are both small, medium-sized and large Danish companies that we assist through various export promotion programmes. The embassy´s trade team in Jakarta is part of a larger regional set-up among the Danish embassies in Southeast Asia that focuses on assisting Danish companies within the following sectors: 1) Environment, Energy and Water 2) Food & Agriculture 3) Design & Creative Economy and 4) Pharma & MedTech. Your role:

As a Commercial Advisor at the Danish embassy in Jakarta, you will be in charge of one or two sectors and be responsible of growing business with Danish companies in this/these sectors. Since you will be working for the Danish government, the Danish embassy in Jakarta, your prime role will be to assist Danish companies with stakeholder management through the organising of events/conferences and preparing programmes for Indonesian delegations going to Denmark and for Danish business delegations going to Indonesia within your designated sector/sectors.
You will work close with the Head of Trade/the Trade Team or with other colleagues at the Danish embassy in doing that. Further, your tasks will consist of partner search, market access strategies and assisting with regulatory framework/barriers to trade and investment as well as company registration in Indonesia.
We are looking for a new colleague that enjoys working with Global Public Affairs with clear targets and KPIs to grow Danish export and investment in Indonesia. Preferably, you have experience working for the Indonesian government or an international organisation with trade and investment, from a consultancy firms or another embassy within their trade team/trade department. It is paramount that you have the ability to work with government relations, but in the same time have excellent skills in sales and customer relations.

Your competences:

  • A relevant University degree
  • A minimum of 3-5 years´ working experience from a government body, an international organisation, a consultancy firm or an embassy, preferably within GPA/trade and investment
  • Competences within one of the abovementioned sectors is not a necessity, but would be assessed as an advantage
  • Proactive, innovative and capable of growing and maintaining network
  • Ability to work independently and in teams with clear targets and KPIs
  • Fluent in Bahasa and excellent English skills, both written and spoken.

    What we offer:
    The Embassy is initially offering an attractive two-year contract with the possibility of
    extension - in accordance with regulations for local staff at the Embassy of Denmark in
    Jakarta, reflecting the candidate’s level of experience, qualifications and performance. The
    salary will consist of a base salary, a functional allowance and an allowance based on
    qualifications. In addition, the position includes the possibility of performance-based bonuses.
